Dean Students Welfare

 

The Dean of Student Welfare is a key administrative officer responsible for promoting the holistic well-being, development, and success of students within the institution. The office serves as a central support system that ensures students’ academic, social, emotional, and physical needs are addressed in a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

The Dean oversees student support services, including counseling, health services, accommodation issues, student discipline, and welfare-related programs. The role involves developing and implementing policies that safeguard students’ rights, promote ethical conduct, and foster a culture of respect, diversity, and inclusion across campus.

Additionally, the Dean of Student Welfare acts as a liaison between students and the institution’s management, ensuring that student concerns are effectively communicated and addressed. The office collaborates with academic departments, student organizations, and external stakeholders to design programs that enhance student engagement, leadership development, and personal growth.

In times of crisis or student-related challenges, the Dean provides guidance, intervention, and support, ensuring students receive appropriate assistance. Overall, the Dean of Student Welfare plays a vital role in creating a nurturing campus environment that supports students’ well-being and enables them to achieve their full potential.

 

FUNCTIONS OF DEAN STUDENTS’ WELFARE
To support execution programmes to achieve the vision and mission of University
• To support academic environment and co-curricular activities of students
• To execute programmes for holistic development of the students
• To deal issues of University hostels and to co-ordinate Wardens for the smooth functioning of hostels
• To nominate student representatives to different bodies of the university
• To deal with Youth Welfare Department of the Punjab State Government
• To provide special care to the students of weaker sections and differently-abled
• To co-ordinate the teaching departments to conduct Students Induction Programmes
• To deal issues and grievances of students and to resolve as required
• To organize cultural activities and youth festivals
• To facilitate various University Clubs
• To co-ordinate with the director of sports
• To protect no-ragging campus of the University
• To depute students to participate events/programmes outside the university
• To contact guardians as and when required.
• To execute community development programmes
• To Support the regional culture development
• To co-ordinate with the chief security office on matters related to students’ discipline in the University.
• To support various departments and hostels in organising Welcome and farewell programmes for students
• To monitor the services of canteen and other food point
• To associate NSS coordinator for National social services schemes
• To work for the welfare of students as per regulations and as directed by the vice chancellor from time to time
• To issue identity cards to students
