The Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) Office at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University serves as a pivotal unit dedicated to fostering the holistic development, well-being, and engagement of students. The office functions as an essential link between the student body and the university administration, ensuring that students receive continuous academic, personal, and socio-emotional support. It oversees a wide spectrum of student-related activities, including co-curricular, cultural, and welfare initiatives that enhance leadership, teamwork, and character formation. The DSW Office also addresses student grievances, facilitates hostel and welfare services, promotes an inclusive and safe campus environment, and upholds policies related to discipline and anti-ragging measures. Through its diverse functions, the office contributes significantly to nurturing a vibrant, supportive, and student-centric university atmosphere conducive to academic excellence and personal growth.

 

 

Functions of the Dean Students’ Welfare Office

 

  •    Facilitate the implementation of programmes and initiatives that operationalize the University’s overarching vision and mission.
  •         Enhance the academic climate by supporting pedagogical activities and promoting meaningful student engagement in co-curricular domains.
  •         Design and administer developmental programmes aimed at fostering the comprehensive and holistic growth of the student community.
  •         Oversee all matters pertaining to University hostels and ensure effective coordination with Hostel Wardens for their efficient administration.
  •         Nominate student representatives to various statutory, administrative, and academic bodies of the University to ensure participatory governance.
  •          Maintain liaison with the Youth Welfare Department of the Government of Punjab for student-related welfare and developmental schemes.
  •         Extend targeted support and specialized assistance to students belonging to socio-economically weaker sections and to those with disabilities.
  •         Coordinate with academic departments to ensure the systematic planning and execution of the Students’ Induction Programme.
  •         Address student grievances in a timely, just, and student-centric manner, ensuring appropriate resolution mechanisms.
  •         Plan and organize cultural events, youth festivals, and related co-curricular activities that enrich the campus culture.
  •         Provide institutional support for the functioning and enhancement of various University Clubs and student organizations.
  •         Collaborate with the Director of Sports to promote student participation in sports and physical well-being initiatives.
  •         Uphold the University’s commitment to a zero-tolerance stance on ragging by monitoring and enforcing anti-ragging policies.
  •         Facilitate the participation of students in inter-institutional, regional, and national events and programmes.
  •         Communicate with parents and guardians whenever required to ensure student welfare and continuity of support.
  •         Execute community outreach and development programmes that strengthen the University’s societal engagement.
  •         Promote activities that safeguard, disseminate, and celebrate regional cultural heritage.
  •         Coordinate with the Chief Security Officer on matters relating to student conduct, discipline, and campus safety.
  •         Assist departments and hostels in organizing student-centric ceremonies such as welcome and farewell programmes.
  •         Monitor and review the quality and functioning of canteen facilities and other on-campus food service points.
  •         Work in collaboration with the NSS Programme Coordinator (NSS to implement National Service Scheme initiatives.
  •         Undertake student welfare responsibilities in accordance with University regulations and directives issued by the Vice Chancellor.
  •         Oversee the issuance of student identity cards and ensure proper administrative management of related processes.
